two computer mania teams tackle the untamed african mtb race
FOR CYCLISTS THE MODERN ERA is about both the journey and the destination . In 2021 the Computer Mania MTB UCI Racing Team journeyed across South Africa and through Namibia , Switzerland , Germany , Czech Republic , Austria , Serbia and Italy to compete in SA Cups , World Cups , the UCI World Championships and a host of UCI Category One events . Now the journey will take them to one final destination in 2021 , the Absa Cape Epic .

The first of the Computer Mania MTB Racing Team ’ s entries are Adelheid Morath and Cherie Redecker , both seasoned professionals and truly world-class cyclists at the highest end of their sport . Adelheid has raced as a professional for 15 years and has travelled the globe in pursuit of excellence . With 4th , 5th , 6th ( twice ) and 7th places at UCI XCO World Cups , she has risen to the very top of her sport . Her achievements in the marathon side of the sport include wins at UCI XCM events and a highest position of 4th at the UCI XCM World Championships . Representing Germany 15 times in World and Continental Championships , Adelheid is also a double Olympian who competed in both London and Beijing . Known for her fighting spirit , she has podiumed at three Cape Epics and won the Swiss Epic . Driven by being out of her comfort zone and pushing boundaries , Adelheid wants to be the best version of herself at the 2021 Absa Cape Epic and support Cherie . The elusive gold medal would also be nice , she smiles . Adelheid is a welcome addition to our team for the Cape Epic .
Cherie may have entered the competitive side of cycling at a later age than most but this has not stopped her from leaving an indelible mark on the sport . The

last eight years have seen her win both the SA National Championships and African Continental Championships while occupying a spot in the top 25 of the UCI World Rankings . No stranger to marathon racing , Cherie was on the stage podium in her first Cape Epic in 2015 , is a winner of the Lesotho Sky , a winner at Swiss Epic and came second at the Engadin Vaude Giro , the St . Moritz race known for its extreme climbing and technical descents . Cherie has also won SA Cups and ended third overall in the Bundesliga in Germany , where she currently resides with husband

Heiko Redecker . Also known in the industry for her superb photography skills , Cherie is extremely proud to be one of the few South Africans to have made it into the top 25 of a UCI World Cup and to have represented SA at the Commonwealth Games . Recovering from a severe multiple collarbone break this year , Cherie fought her way back to a second place at this year ’ s SA Championships . A champion for women in sports and the younger generation , Cherie is determined to capitalise on her previous Absa Cape Epic experience and dream big in this year ’ s outing .
