» Raise the actual seat post to
your bike upright so you can
ensure the correct routing
» Be very sure not to miss
the “little bar” on the rear
derailleur when re-threading
your chain
SETTING GEARS
» If gears are jumping, establish if
they are slow to getting lighter
or slow to getting heavier
» Learn how to release the gear
cable by using the tension-
adjusting barrel, on the shifter,
for gears (ie. which way to
turn to loosen or tighten).
This is something you need to
practice at home
» Remove the broken and bent

» You must have two links the

fit the magic link
» Put your partner’s bike next
to yours so you can copy the

the “maximum” marker point
into consideration. Remember
you might have to release the
remote lever to create enough
slack in the internal cable
» If at all possible, do not
attempt to complete a
stage on a dropper seat post
that has dropped completely
– this will lead to severely
over-used muscles and cause
lots of pain
magic links are directional
– be sure to check this
before closing the magic

chain must face you

you have the correct one

ultimate pressure that suits
your style of riding (for Epic,
rather be 0.1 bar too hard)
» As a rule of thumb, if you
bump your rim three times
during any training ride then
you know your tyre pressure
is too low
» It is recommended that your
tyre pressure is as close as
possible between front and
rear tyres
