Without the need to reach a new town every day , the route could explore new territory . The first stage started outside Wellington and headed to Ceres , where a 12km stretch of railway line would result in an unprecedented number of chafe cases . Stage 2 explored the singletrack of Eselfontein before an evil 118km loop around the mountainous Ceres valley in 40 ° C on stage 3 . Then it was on to a new camp in Worcester and a time trial in the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden . Stage 6 headed for Oak Valley ( on very windy stretches past Brandvlei and Theewaterskloof Dam ) where the Thandi , Oak Valley and Lebanon singletrack awaited , before a final stage over the Hottentots-Holland to Lourensford . Karl Platt took his fourth victory , Stefan Sahm his third – although they had their strength and tactical aptitude tested to the limit by Kevin Evans and Alban Lakata ( Team MTN Qhubeka ). Danish sisters Kristine and Anna-Sofie Noergaard ( Rothaus-CUBE ) won the women ’ s category .
