6150 E BROAD ST, COLUMBUS, OH 43213 | P: 614-546-4500 | F: 614-546-4501 | MOUNTCARMELFOUNDATION.ORG Mount Carmel colleagues joined together for the most successful colleague giving campaign ever! The 2017-18 Colleague Giving Campaign, Voices of Change, took place April 3 through April 28. More than 1,150 colleagues raised their voices through the campaign this year to enable Mount Carmel to continue providing critical care to the most vulnerable members of our communities, as well as to our patients, colleagues and clinicians. The campaign raised $453,000 — an increase of 7 percent from last year. The money raised will have an extra impact on the communities we serve, as the Foundation provides a dollar-for-dollar match that supports Mount Carmel’s Outreach Program. Because of Mount Carmel colleagues, we can focus even more on meeting the needs of our community and our colleagues. A B OV E A N D B EYO N D The Mount Carmel Foundation is thankful to exceptional volunteers and donors who make our mission possible. It’s Because of YOU that we can bring hope, healing and healthcare to central Ohio. Cindy and John Kazalia are perfect examples of this kind of selflessness. They created “Sacred Women: Celebrating Courage, Survival, and Transformation.” The 2017 honorees were Bev Babbert, a champion in drug Cindy and John Kazalia awareness and prevention; Cindi Gremling, founder of Hazel’s House of Hope; the Hardy family (Audry, Phyllis and Tiffany), founders of the Hope Healing House Foundation; and Carly Mesnick, program manager for Mount Carm el Health’s Crime and Trauma Assistance Program. All funds raised at the event were donated to the Mount Carmel Foundation to be invested in Grove City. It’s a perfect example of our engaged volunteer leaders and our mission in action, for which we’re extremely grateful. Phillip J. Shubert, MD. Protecting and impacting the lives of newborn babies and mothers brought together over 700 guests at the sold-out, 18th annual Champagne & Diamonds Gala at Hilton Downtown Columbus. Each year Mount Carmel’s expert medical team delivers 9,000 bundles of joy. Diamond Sponsor, Central Ohio Newborn, and caring physicians, corporate partners, community leaders and colleagues raised $737,672 that night to benefit healthy mothers and babies. Funds raised will expand maternal outreach and educational programs, and maternity technology enhancements across Mount Carmel. This year’s gala also honored 2017 Tom F. Lewis Spirit of Philanthropy Award winner Phillip J. Shubert, MD., who received the award in honor of his dedication and service to mothers and newborns over many years. Tom F. Lewis finalists, Jonathan B. Feibel, MD., Bryan Ghiloni, MD. and Douglas B. Van Fossen, MD., were also honored for their many contributions to the community. The Office of the Mayor of Columbus, Ohio recognized the significance of this work and rendered February 11, 2017, Healthy Moms and Babies Awareness Day. 3
