Fourth Grade students at Sunset spent a week reading and determining the development of the author’ s purpose across a text. They used the acronym PIE’ ED to remember reasons an author writes a text. To demonstrate their understanding of this standard, students read short passages and determined the author’ s purpose in order to get“ pied”. As a reward, all students enjoyed a wide variety of pies from Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Guzman’ s“ PIE Shop”.
