On a warm evening in August, the galleries at the Arts Center of Moultrie filled with artists, neighbors, and friends, brought together for the exhibition opening of the annual Southern Arts Invitational. People drifted from painting to sculpture to photo, pausing in front of pieces that caught their eye and their breath. At first glance, it was simply a reception for an exhibit opening; but look closer, and it becomes something much bigger: proof of what art can mean for a small town in South Georgia.
