April 17-21 Watercolor Workshop with Janet Rogers The Arts Center of Moultrie , 401 Seventh Ave . S . W . 9 a . m . -4 p . m . daily Rogers has been a working professional artist for over 35 years and has achieved Signature Status in the American Watercolor Society , The Florida Watercolor Society , South Carolina Watercolor Society and others .
Workshop fee is $ 400 . Meals are provided for $ 8 per day . Days 1 and 2 will concentrate on florals . Days 3 and 4 are portraits , and Day 5 is landscapes and buildings . For more information , contact the Arts Center at ( 229 ) 985-1922 .
April 28 Women in the Workforce Luncheon Colquitt County Courthouse Square noon-1 p . m . First National Bank of Moultrie will present its annual Women in the Workforce Luncheon . The speaker will be Vera Stewart , an Augusta , Ga ., entrepreneur . Stewart made her start in catering , operated a cafe and bakery , and sold mail-ordered cakes and casseroles . She was offered her own cooking and lifestyle show in 2011 after winning “ Throwdown with Bobby Flay .” Make reservations by calling the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce at ( 229 ) 985-2131 .
April 28 Relay for Life Colquitt County Ag Complex 350 Veterans Parkway 6-10 p . m . A festival atmosphere marks this annual fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society . April 29 Hearts and Handprints Moultrie Junior Woman ’ s Club house , 1155 Second St . S . E . 10 a . m . -1 p . m . Mustard Seed Cottage and the Moultrie Junior Woman ’ s Club will host a Hearts and Handprints Fundraiser . Parents , grandparents and other relatives are welcome to bring children to paint plates / platters for their mothers , grandmothers , etc .
Tickets will be available for $ 30 at the event and will include brunch foods from Baba ’ s , a special “ Mustard Seed Cottage ” drink ( non-alcoholic ) and a plate or platter to paint . Additional plates / platters are available for $ 10 more . Raffle baskets consisting of donated gifts from Moultrie businesses will be auctioned at noon . Juanita Gaston will present “ African American Genealogy 101 — Laying the Foundation ” at the Moultrie library . The workshop will start you on the fun and rewarding journey of discovering your African American roots . You will learn how to begin , where to look for information to extend your family tree , what to do with what you find , and how to put it all together . Gaston , the instructor , is a founding member of the Tallahassee African American Genealogical Society and is the owner of J G RootsFinders , LLC .
