“ I worked here for most of my life growing up ,” Scotty DeMott said , “ Whether it was cutting grass and weed-eating as a teenager to working at the shop in high school .”
Having left for college in 2006 , Scotty DeMott studied business marketing , but wasn ’ t sure if he ’ d come back to the company .
“ I knew it was an option ,” Scotty DeMott said , “ And I just kinda wanted to figure out what I wanted to do .”
Getting started , Scotty DeMott said , involved a lot of learning .
Shawn Sellers , a “ I started here from school technician of DeMott and then I started off in the Tractor Company , has shop ,” he said . “ Really , you been working for the know , crawl before I walk , company for more so to say , and just learning than four years . several different parts of the business .” He currently works as the sales manager for the
DeMott Tractor Company .
Since then , the company has continued to diversify and add new product lines to their dealership , which has added its own complications .
“ When you don ’ t just sell tractors , when you don ’ t just sell Polaris , when you hire a mechanic , he can be working on a golf cart today , a tractor tomorrow ,” Scotty DeMott said .
The flexibility required by staff involves a level of knowledge and understanding that isn ’ t easy to acquire , according to Scotty DeMott .
Indeed , struggles haven ’ t been scarce over the years , with the DeMott Tractor Company dealing with a changing economy , COVID-19 and difficult competitors , such as Amazon . And yet , they continue onward . “ We jumped those hurdles that could have very easily put us out of business ,” Scott DeMott said .
According to Scotty DeMott , one of the biggest strengths of the DeMott Tractor Company has always been diversification .
