I
’ ve lived and worked on the courthouse square for more than 20 years now, and I’ ve seen significant changes during that time. There have been renovations, restorations and additions that have changed the appearance of the downtown area just in that period of time. Downtown Moultrie is constantly growing and evolving.
Yet, folks still like to look back and say,“ Remember when that used to be …” Sometimes, I can look at a building and remember what business it had been and what it looked like when I was younger. But, for the most part, I don’ t remember unless someone reminds me.
So, if you like to reminisce or are trying to remember where a specific business was in the past, taking a look back in time and seeing what Downtown Moultrie looked like over the years just became easier. The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia( NSC- DA-Georgia) has launched a Downtown Moultrie History Project.
“ We want to bring back memories and educate those who don’ t know and are interested,” Main Street Manager Caroline Barber said.
