Set up around the courthouse square, you’ ll find about 200 vendors selling everything from jewelry and leather goods to lawn art and barbecue sauces. When you’ re looking for lunch, a snack or something cold to drink, there are a variety of food trucks and food booths to choose from. And, of course, the local eating and drinking establishments around the square will be open and ready to serve.
Some of the festival highlights include free family-friendly games, a beach, live music and performances, arts, crafts and boutique shopping, rock climbing, stilt walkers, train rides, pony rides and face painting.
The Backyard BBQ Competition will be going on all day with area barbecue crews competing in categories including beef brisket, Boston butt, pork ribs, chicken, barbecue sauce, and Brunswick stew. If you want a little taste of the barbecue competition, be sure to participate in the People’ s Choice Award, sponsored by the Magnolia Civitan Club. They will be selling tickets at their tent during the event, which will be across from the Downtown Welcome Center. Make sure to stay for the awards ceremony, which will be the last event of the day, starting around 3:30 p. m.
“ It’ s everything you expect it to be. It’ ll be a fun festival,” said Barber.
