After two years of sharing the chapter responsibilities , Reagin and the committee members felt they were comfortable enough managing their own operation . The joint chapter became separate entities but Colquitt County kept the Double Gobble moniker while Lowndes County became the Longbeards Chapter .
“ We ’ ve been doing it ever since and it ’ s been growing ever since ,” he said .
Growing is certainly an understatement . A small example of the growth the chapter has undergone can be seen with their annual banquet . The banquet is an enormous fundraising endeavor . The first banquet held by the chapter was attended by “ around 100 people ,” according to Reagin . This year , they hosted over 500 .
The local chapter was recognized at the NWTF national convention earlier this year , being awarded the L . A . Dixon , Jr . Memorial Highest Single Event ( Net ) first place award as well as the World Slam Club award . The L . A . Dixon , Jr . award was given for Colquitt County raising the highest amount of
