It is not officially the Christmas season in Thomasville until The Nutcracker is performed in front of a packed Thomasville Municipal Auditorium .
Those interested in attending should mark their calendars for Dec . 7-8 when the show will be held twice ; Saturday , Dec . 7 at 7:30 p . m . and Sunday ,
Dec . 8 at 2:30 p . m . Girls from Bainbridge , Moultrie , Cairo and Thomasville are part of this year ’ s show .
“ The joy that this magical show brings to our community is a tradition that many of us cherish . I am so excited to showcase the many gifts that these incredible children bring , along with the treat of a live orchestra and an amazing guest artist from the Cincinnati Ballet with our audience ,” said Melissa June , artistic director of the South Georgia Ballet who will be coordinating the show .
Executive Director Rachel Arnold is in her third year with the show and emphasizes the time and energy the girls have put into preparing for it , which started back in the summer . The girls have regular classes from Monday through Thursday and also rehearsals on Saturday that began in September .
