In short , Santa Claus lives in the hearts and minds of children , whose child-like faith , in him , is invaluable to the world because it makes the world a brighter and better place to live for everyone .
Since that time , newspapers everywhere have offered their services in forwarding children ’ s letters to Santa Claus each year . Children can either mail , email or drop-off their precious letters to the newspaper with the confidence that Santa will get them at the North Pole .
The Moultrie Observer has Santa Letters going back to 1910 , that could be found in the editions on the online archive . However , letters were most likely published before that time .
These letters reflect Moultrie and Colquitt County children ’ s Christmas hopes over the decades . They are fun to read and to see what was important to children of the different time periods . Some of my favorite “ Santa asks ” are just a suit , from a boy in 1910 ; a double-barrel shotgun , from a boy in 1940 ; a Betsy-Wetsy doll from a girl in 1950 ; a puppy , from a girl in 1990 ; and a hoverboard , from a boy in 2020 .
Although , each decade has its own specific toys , there are still some things that have stood the test of time in Santa letters . Over the years and today , children still ask for a bicycle to be under their tree on Christmas morning . Did you ask for one , too ?
