The Georgia Forestry Commission aims to promote healthy and abundant forest that support a robust industry while providing social , environmental , and financial benefits to all of Georgia . Their mission is to provide leadership , service , and education in the protection and conservation of Georgia ’ s forest resources . The local branch of the GAFC provides information about regional forestry , fire management , forest health , forest inventory and analysis , forest stewardship , urban and community forestry , and water quality . One of their main duties is assisting with prescribed fires and installing fire breaks for the land-owners of Colquitt County . Landowners with questions about prescribed fire or stewardship are welcome to give them a call .
