tBulgaria was next , the trip continuing in the same vein as we settled into our new life on the road . We spent a week in the oasis that is ‘ Motocamp-Bulgaria ’, where the bikes received some minor repairs and oil changes and we languished in the hospitality laid on by hosts Polly and Ivo , enjoying the company of other overlanders . More mountain roads led us to Plovdiv , a delightful ancient city . Our hotel was in the heart of the old town , attainable only via a confusing maze of winding alleyways so the days ride ended in bumpity-bump combat with some of the most horrific cobblestone streets ever .
