Enduro Alexis TV comes to MEM with a
string of interviews, asking the
questions you want to know from the
riders that have been there.
Sam Manicom
On my YouTube channel titled “Enduro Alexis” I carry out
interviews on a regular basis with other motorcycle explorers
and long distance riders like Sam Manicom to discuss questions
they are not usually asked.
This is an interview with Sam Manicom that I carried out in May
2014 shortly before my Land’s End to John O’Groats in 24 hours
at 70 mph using the “Bike Hud” produced by Bike Systems.
In the interview he explains how younger and older riders
experience motorcycling in different ways, the former putting
themselves through more challenges like races or breaking
records while the latter tend to enjoy the environment and
scenery they travel through much more.
Sam also provides useful tips on how to persuade one’s employer
to agree to allow a sabbatical year or a number of months to
conduct a longer journey which could not be completed in the
time period of annual leave. Amongst these are how skills learnt
abroad can be of benefit to the company as they then have a more
experienced and knowledgeable employee.
Adventures according to Sam don’t always have to be about riding
around the world, they rather more start as soon as riders leave
their comfort zone and allow themselves to experience
something new and deal with new situations.
Towards the end of the interview he explains how he goes about
making a ride through a certain country which may be of special
interest to some but not to most of his audience by focussing on
the experiences of the ride itself and things all riders can relate
to.
Concluding the interview about Sam’s new audio books and the
reasons for their production are discussed, and how they allow
those who don’t have time to read books to still benefit from his
publications and life experiences which are inspirational to many.
