¿ Who are MCFO ? They are two travelers who go by motorbike , she is Karen Mc Auley and he is Dieter Forner , and on the 5th of July 2016 they will start the journey of their dreams travelling by bike for 8 or 10 months from Anchorage , ( Alaska ), passing through Canada , the west coast of de USA , Mexico , Belize , Guatemala , El Salvador , Honduras , Nicaragua , Costa Rica , Panama , Colombia , Ecuador , Peru , Chile & Argentina .
Karen Mc Auley is 50 years of age , was born in Dublin , ( Ireland ), and she moved to live in Estepona , Malaga , Spain , in January 1984 with the intention of staying six months to learn the language , but she liked it so much that she now has lived in the same place for 32 years , despite the fact of having visited more than 100 countries without having found , up to now , a better place where she would prefer to live .
Dieter Forner is 49 years old and is originally from Heidenheim , in the south of Germany , and something similar happened to him as that with Karen and he has lived now for more than twenty years in Spain .
Both have worked all these years in the hotel business on the Costa del Sol .
Born to travel – forced to work …
Dieter comments : “ Like everyone who likes to travel , we always had the same problem : our work didn ´ t allow us to travel for a long periods of time ”.
The financial crisis of the last few years changed the circumstances of their working lives , so they have now decided to embark on the “ now or never ” adventure which they have named the MCFO PANAMERICANA .
Karen and Dieter , as well as travelling , love to go on their motorbike and are also animal and nature lovers , so they want to unite all these passions and will focus this trip on the animal protection , seeing them in their natural habitat , from bears in Alaska and Canada or penguins in Argentina and Chile , amongst many other animals which they will find along their way . They also have planned to visit rescue and protection organizations while , at the same time , they will discover unusual places and meet interesting people on their route .
