About Me About the Area I am a keen and experienced motorcyclist. Since buying my first bike I’ve covered an estimated 400,000 miles on foreign soil. In the several years I’ve been here I’ve done about 50,000 miles, mostly with Belén on the back, throughout the greater part of the Iberian peninsula. I spent most of my employed life as a lorry driver – both national and international; the international part being predominantly in France and Spain. For these reasons, not only do I know my way around but I know about travelling on 2, 4 or 18 wheels. I love it! Road travel is not just a journey from A to B. It’s about the people you meet, the things you see, the things that occur and the culture and foods you could encounter. It’s fun! However if you have a finite time to do it in, it’s best to travel with someone who knows. That’s Sierra Alma Touring. Salamanca is situated about halfway between Madrid and the Portuguese border in the south western corner of Castilla y León. It is home to, arguably, the oldest university in Europe – take it up with the Pope! It’s a very small city by UK standards and we would describe it as a large town. It’s a popular tourist destination for people from around the world and has a usual population of considerably less than Swindon. This is augmented by the tourists and the students who are here in term time. The entertainment in the city is diverse and we defy anyone of any age to be bored here. If you choose to spend your Spanish touring overnighters in the country you are clearly a book worm or possibly even mute!
