Bushmills Train Line
After that ‘tall tale’ you may want to have a little change of transport and you can, should you wish to step
back in time and take the steam train from the Giant’s Causeway to Bushmills. It’s only a 2 mile line and
worth the chug and pictures you can take in my opinion. The train will set an adult back £5 and you can get
the timetable from the site (http://www.freewebs.com/giantscausewayrailway).The railway runs three
engines and they are Rory, Tyrone and Shane (no Thomas I’m afraid!). You end up at the world’s oldest
licensed distillery of whiskey that was granted the licence in 1608 by King James I.
*The Irish spelling is Whiskey while the Scottish spelling is Whisky.
Bushmills distillery runs several labels:
Triple Distilled Original
Black Bush
Single Malt at 10, 16 and 21 year
There is also a Bushmills Honey but this labelled as a ‘spirit’ drink and not classed as a whiskey.
The tours of the distillery are all on the website (www.bushmills.com) along with the history of the drink. If
you do take part in the tasting you will appreciate the art that goes into the creation but save any drinking
until the riding is done for the day!
