A
gain we come to price when we look at Weise Tahko Waterproof Glove as they ring up
at £34.99, bargain you may think after looking at the Held Twin GTX previous. You’d be right too
as they are very cheap in the glove market and why is that? Let’s have a look through some of
the testing criteria we have for our gloves. Now it was showing as plus 2 degrees on VStrom
dash when I was playing with these gloves and you don’t have to wait long in Lancashire for
some rain!
Here’s the spec –
Made from Oxford nylon/leather
Hipora waterproof breathable lining
Thinsulate thermal insulated lining
Reflective piping/reflective tape on fingers
Carbon knuckles
Adjustable velcro wrist retention
Waterproof as the name indicates, well yes they are as no water got to my fingers or palm but
the same could not be said for my wrists. The issue being with the ‘gauntlet’ which is little more
than an extension of the glove fabric with an elastic pull cord and when moving around this gets
loose and of course in comes the water.
Dexterity was great as there is pretty much no padding at all around the wrist or the back of the
hand. So of course you can move around. The only protection really comes from the carbon fibre
layer under a shield of clear plastic giving the impression of full carbon protection. There is a
thin leather palm with some small ‘grip’ pads below fingers. There is NO protection at the wrist
or knuckles at all, so your knuckles will be in good shape but the rest of your hand will be in bits.
Warm? Yeah not so bad with a Thinsulate layer, if you’re walking the dog on a frosty morning but
for doing 60mph in 2 degrees temperature ... my hands wet the same colour as an angry
farmer’s face!
Great for walking the
dog on a frosty morning
but pay more and get
the right gear if playing
on the bike in winter.
