Island Transport:
Rapid Penang operates a free bus service within George
Town. So you don’t have to wear bike kit, perhaps opt to
use the trishaws or hire bicycles, but walking is by far the
best way to see things. Early morning and late afternoon
are the best times to explore due to the heat.
A car, motorcycle and passenger ferry to Butterworth on
the mainland operates from Weld Quay. The alternative
is to ride over the Penang Bridge.
Currently there is no official way of getting a bike from
Penang island to Sumatra in Indonesia.
