S o, one day a rider finds himself in Rwanda, Armenia, Iraq, a place with a world recognised name for a solitary reason. I remember getting perspective on it all when I saw this W hen I wrote my last book it was inevitable that I referred to Wikipedia to make sure I had my facts right and to confirm dates. I’m ashamed to say there were several places I visited that I learned more about when I was back home that I did when I was there. In future I'm using my internet connection to Wikipedia the place names on the sign posts that are to come, not to post a picture of my lunch. Explor is the name of this magazine, there aren’t many places that haven’t been found already, we were all born too late to have ‘explorer’ as a job title, but we can explore beyond our own limited knowledge, discover the facts and inform. Wikipedia is the methadone to get off of facebook. When I gave up smoking rollups I had to find something else to do with my hands in self-conscious situations, thankfully phones came along. Imagine riding round a place and changing your view from status updates to discovering the state of the place you are in. Explore where you are. Report back to MEM perhaps we’ll print your findings.
