'After all the help we received from the Colombian customs staff we lost
six hours on the Venezuelan side but finally cruised into Caracas at
around 3pm and high-fived each other' says Holmes who had mixed
feelings about reaching the end. 'It was quite an emotional day's ride.
I was sad that the journey had come to an end but joyous that I would be
soon home with my wife and family. The defining moment of the trip for
me was seeing how very little has changed in these countries since
Alberto and Che made their trip, but despite being impoverished the
people still manage to keep smiling.'
