THE
STARS OF
TOMORROW
The Road to MotoGP™ is MotoGP ’ s talent promotion programme , designed to make sure young riders from all over the world have somewhere they can show their talent and start their careers , wherever they ’ re from and whatever their background .
PT Grand Prix of Thailand
New programmes are added year-onyear as it continues to fulfill its mission statement , but nowhere has the Road to MotoGP shone more than the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup in recent seasons !
The ATC started in 2014 , mostly racing alongside MotoGP , and in the ten years since it ’ s created a host of Grand Prix winners and successful riders from all across Asia and Oceania . Thai rider Somkiat Chantra , now joining the MotoGP grid in 2025 , became the first ATC alumnus to win a GP race , and then Ai Ogura made more ATC history in 2024 as he became its first World Champion when he took the Moto2™ crown . He likewise moves up to MotoGP in 2025 , proving the Road to MotoGP is aptly named .
Up and comers like Veda Pratama , from Indonesia , continue making waves on their way to the Grand Prix paddock , and those who ’ ve already arrived , like Turkish Moto2™ star Deniz Öncü , remain ones to watch . That ’ s all an incredible success . But what about the racing ? Since it ’ s about finding and fostering talent , all the bikes are the same Honda NSF250R Moto3 machines , with identical liveries , and Pirelli is the sole tyre supplier . That parity creates a fantastic opportunity for each rider on the grid to show what they ’ ve got , as well as making an awesome show for fans around the world following their progress .
Each ATC round comprises two races , with the points system mirroring that of MotoGP , and the Cup races alongside the most exciting sport on earth at five Grands Prix . In 2025 the ATC also has a standalone round in Malaysia too , so the season runs from Thailand to Qatar with MotoGP , heads to Malaysia , and then comes back to the GP paddock in Japan and Indonesia before the finale back at Sepang alongside the Malaysian GP .
20 riders from 10 countries are set to contest the 2025 Cup , with Japan , Indonesia , Thailand , Malaysia , Korea , China , India , Australia , Vietnam , and the Philippines all represented on the grid . Make sure to follow their progress on the Road to MotoGP !
