Another graduate of the Red Bull Rookies Cup , Darryn Binder faced his first full season in the Moto3™ class in 2015 . In 2016 the South African made real inroads , scoring a fourth place in Phillip Island and for 2017 Binder remained with the team , and made big progress despite an injury – taking top tens , points finishes and a best result of fourth . In 2018 , he moved to Red Bull KTM Ajo but had a tough season . In 2019 he switched to CIP KTM and he took his first victory in Barcelona in 2020 . In 2021 , he teamed up with Petronas Sprinta Racing but top speed issues meant he could only finish seventh in the championship . Any disappointment was tempered by the fact he secured a seat in the MotoGP™ class for 2022 with RNF Yamaha . Despite competing aboard a year-old M1 , he has put in a number of excellent performances .
