The 16th running of the Red Bull Rookies Cup promises to be one of the most closely fought in history with a truly international flavour . As well as producing consistently great racing , the success of recent champions Ayumu Sasaki ( Moto3 podium finisher in Argentina ), Carlos Tatay ( Moto3 podium finisher in Indonesia ) and Pedro Acosta ( reigning Moto3 World Champion ) shows the current formula works to unearth the stars of tomorrow . For 2022 , 27 of the world ’ s fastest teenagers from 17 different countries will line up for this year ’ s 7-round series . The field of 2022 faced double-headers at Portimao , Portugal on 23rd and 24th April , before a double header in Jerez this weekend . Then come Mugello , Italy on 28th and 29th of May , the Sachsenring , Germany on 18th and 19th June , the Kymi Ring , Finland on 9th and 10th July , the Red Bull Ring , Austria on 11th and 12th August before the season finale at Aragon on 17th and 18th September . A host of names will be seeking to step up and take over from the space vacated by the stars of the 2021 grid , namely Colombian David Alonso . One of the favourites must be brilliant Thai prospect Tatchakorn Buasri , who scored a total of four podiums in last year ’ s championship . Big things are expected of young Dutch talent Collin Veijer , after he scored three top ten finishes in 2021 . Just like in previous years , each and every rider will have identical KTM RC 250 Rs to show off their talents . As this year ’ s grand prix results have shown , the stars of the coming years can be found here .
