Bagnaia ’ s debut season in Moto3™ in 2013 was an inauspicious one , the Italian failing to score a point . It wasn ’ t until he switched to Mahindra ’ s Moto3™ racer in 2015 that he really came into his own . A call up to Sky VR46 ’ s new Moto2™ team , followed in 2018 . A second season with the squad saw him claim eight wins and his first World Title . Bagnaia made his MotoGP™ debut with Pramac Ducati in 2019 , but it was only in 2020 that he came alive , scoring a debut podium at Misano . He moved to Ducati ’ s Factory team in 2021 and rose to the challenge , notching up four victories from the last six races and fighting for the title . On the basis of his riding skill and Ducati ’ s current strength , he still has chances of the title , even if he ’ s had a wildly inconsistent year so far .
