Pecco Bagnaia was the first to admit he needed a change of approach in 2026. Last year, the double MotoGP™ World Champion endured a troubled campaign, finishing fifth overall and struggling to find the right feeling aboard his Ducati Desmosedici.
Going into the two-month winter break, the Italian sat down with his close confidants, mentor Valentino Rossi and trainer Carlo Casabianca, to work on his approach.“ My two references in this period normally are Vale and Carlo. They lived every kind of situation in the past,” said Bagnaia.
“ Vale had very difficult moments in the past, and Carlo was always with him. One thing that I can say is that you just have to be happy and enjoy the moments, because you never know what’ s ahead.
“ I spent four seasons at the top, first and second in the championship, always achieving great results. Last year, when I was struggling and I didn ' t achieve what I was aiming for, when I was finishing third or sometimes fourth, I was too critical of myself.
“ Sometimes you just need to take the positive from the situation and analyse things better. Even if I was struggling, I wanted to win, and if you are struggling, it ' s difficult to win. So I just need to be calmer, to work well and try to perform in a better way, even if I am struggling. This is something I’ m trying to work on.”
