Nonostante il titolo Moto3™ vinto nel 2014 con tre vittorie e altri sette podi , Alex Marquez è rimasto nell ’ ombra del fratello maggiore Marc . Nel 2015 e 2016 lo spagnolo ha affrontato un avvio difficile in Moto2™ , ma nel 2017 ha ottenuto tre vittorie . Nel 2019 , poi , è diventato il primo pilota di sempre a vincere il titolo iridato in Moto2™ e Moto3™ . Il ritiro di Jorge Lorenzo gli ha aperto le porte per un posto a sorpresa in MotoGP™ con il team Repsol Honda nel 2020 . Nonostante alcune difficoltà tecniche , Alex ha ottenuto due podi impressionanti in Francia e ad Aragon . Passato ai colori LCR Honda per il 2021 , ha raggiunto un bel quarto posto al GP dell ’ Algarve , in un anno però difficile . Sulla nuova Honda RC213V il 2022 non gli regala grandi soddisfazioni : l ’ anno prossimo passerà al team Gresini Ducati .

Even after Alex had won the 2014 Moto3™ title brilliantly , courtesy of three wins and seven further podiums , he still lingered in the shadow of older brother Marc . The Spaniard faced a tough start to life in Moto2™ in 2015 and 2016 . But he scored three wins in 2017 . In 2019 was a year when Alex really came into his own when he became the first rider in history to win titles in Moto2™ and Moto3™ . Jorge Lorenzo ’ s retirement opened the door to a surprise MotoGP™ seat in Repsol Honda for 2020 and , despite difficulties with his bike , Alex scored two impressive podiums in France and Aragon . He switched to LCR Honda colours for 2021 but aside from a fine fourth at the Algarve GP , it was a tough year . His fortunes haven ’ t improved in 2022 , despite riding an all-new RC213V . He will depart for Gresini Ducati next year .
