The all-new Northern Talent Cup began in 2020 , with the goal of giving riders from northern and central European countries a new opportunity to further their careers and follow their dream of being a motorcycle racer . The NTC aims to become the perfect steppingstone between lower level national championships and the FIM CEV Repsol and / or Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup . The Cup is a one-make series of teams and riders , using the incredibly successful European Talent Cup as a blueprint . The limit on entries is 26 riders aged between 12 and 17 in 2021 , with no wildcards allowed . They all race on the new KTM 250 Standard . The Cup is designed to create close competition in a cost-effective manner , including the calendar , as many riders are currently forced to travel to the other side of Europe to compete at a similar level . The NTC aims to ensure riders can more easily travel to each race weekend , opening the door of opportunity to more young riders from the region than ever before . In its second year , the NTC races in Germany , France , Czech Republic , Austria , and the Netherlands , with seven rounds to take place in 2022 . Riders of all nationalities can apply , but the Cup is designed for riders from northern and central Europe . At least one of the top riders in the NTC will compete in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup the following year and at least two will take part in the Rookies Cup selection event on the Road to MotoGP™ . The NTC is run by Dorna , the organisers of the MotoGP™ World Championship , MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship and the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup , as well as co-organiser of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and Honda British Talent Cup . The Cup is intended to give riders from northern and central European countries a new path on the Road to MotoGP™ . The NTC is a competition for teams , but Dorna covers onsite logistics , with an NTC tent providing space for teams to use on site . Dorna staff are present at all rounds with rider Coach Diego Lozano , a member of Race Direction and an events coordinator . ADAC also support the new initiative and provides a key aspect for the NTC : technical scrutineering
