The only manufacturer to prevent a Ducati clean sweep in 2024, Aprilia took Grand Prix victory in the hands of Maverick Viñales in the USA whilst also taking seven Sprint podiums. With Viñales moving to KTM and Aleix Espargaro retiring, a new line-up is a heavyweight one – reigning World Champion Jorge Martin brings the # 1 to the Noale factory whilst Marco Bezzecchi has the pride of putting the Italian flag on the Italian machine, the first full-time factory Aprilia rider from Italy since 2021.
Despite the highlights of the COTA win and Sprint success, it was a challenging season overall for Aprilia, who secured the bronze medal in the manufacturers’ standings. Already, the 2025 RS-GP is a step forward, with Jorge Martin transitioning over and hailing the front-end feeling, helped by new downwash ducts. It’ s early stages but after the acquisition of tech guru Fabiano Sterlacchini from KTM, the Italian manufacturer seek an improvement and to lead the charge against the Ducati onslaught.
Martin’ s move likewise brings a new face and fresh ideas to the technical side: Daniele Romagnoli, a long-time Ducati crew chief, follows‘ The Martinator’ to Aprilia and with that, a wealth of knowledge. That combined with existing RS- GP insight by Bezzecchi’ s crew chief Francesco Venturato, ex-KTM and Ducati engineer Sterlacchini and the same team management of Paolo Bonora, will promise much to give in 2025.
