I warmly welcome you all to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão , for the third round of the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship .
It is a great honour to be a part of the 2021 calendar and to welcome once again to Portugal the ultimate exponent of motorcycle racing , thus hosting in less than six months two races of the calendar , which is also the acknowledgement of the commitment and capacity of the whole team that is in this place .
My pride in the high quality of our events and the feedback received from everyone , from the riders and their teams to the viewers around the world , is a positive sign that in the future we will be able to host even more MotoGP™ weekends and on those occasions with the stands crowded with fans . Witnessing the drama , skill and sheer speed first-hand is an incredible experience that I know Portuguese fans would love to be able to experience .
It was thrilling last November to see Miguel Oliveira win the first ever MotoGP™ race on our track . I have known Miguel since he was a young rider , and over the years he has spent a lot of time here , testing not only the main track but also the flat track and the karting circuit . He is a great person and is now proving himself to be one of the best drivers in the elite of motorsport . Being able to allow national talent to flourish and promote Portugal on a world stage was one of the main reasons we created this circuit , and I am very pleased to see these goals being achieved .
We are all looking forward to another exciting weekend of Moto3™ and Moto2™ racing as well as premier class racing , and I welcome all riders , teams , manufacturers , media , sponsors , and organizers to our track for a successful and safe weekend of racing .
