Entering his 14th premier class season , common sense indicates the elder Espargaro brother should be winding down . But the 34-year old is doing anything but . 2023 showed once again why the Catalan is hailed as Aprilia ’ s ‘ Captain ’, as he claimed two impressive wins and finished sixth overall . His work to bring both Suzuki and Aprilia up to competitive speed in the premier class shouldn ’ t be forgotten . And while it ’ s difficult to envision him overhauling Ducati ’ s fastest men over a full season , early performances have indicated Espargaro should be in line to add to his win tally again in 2024 , which will be his final year in MotoGP™ .
En su 14 ª temporada en la categoría reina , el sentido común indica que el mayor de los hermanos Espargaró debería ir bajando el ritmo . Pero el piloto de 34 años está haciendo todo lo contrario . En 2023 demostró una vez más por qué el catalán es aclamado como el ‘ Il Capitano ’ de Aprilia , con dos impresionantes victorias y un sexto puesto en la general . Todo ello sin olvidar su trabajo para que Suzuki , en su momento , y Aprilia hayan llegado a ser competitivas en la categoría reina . Y aunque es difícil imaginarle superando a los hombres más rápidos de Ducati a lo largo de una temporada completa , las primeras actuaciones han indicado que Espargaró debería estar en condiciones de volver a sumar victorias en 2024 , el que será su último año en MotoGP™ .
