The first half of Quartararo ’ s 2023 was miserable ; the second promising as he first learned to accept the Yamaha M1 ’ s shortcomings , and then rode beyond them . Qualifying was an issue last year , and could well be the factory ’ s undoing in 2024 . There ’ s no doubt the M1 – a bike which hasn ’ t won a race since June , 2022 – is still some way off it . But the 2021 Champ ’ s aims are more realistic this year , knowing he can build from a solid base of early top six results . He ’ s been a calmer figure this year , and is still capable of fighting with the best in class when the bike allows him to , even if Yamaha are some way off currently .
2023 erlebte Quartararo eine desaströse erste Saisonhalbzeit , im zweiten Jahresteil lief es für den Franzosen besser . Er lernte mit den Problemen der Yamaha M1 umzugehen und sie zu überwinden . Letztes Jahr waren die Qualifyings sein Problem , was auch 2024 wieder so werden könnte . Es besteht kein Zweifel , dass die M1 – ein Motorrad , das seit Juni 2022 kein Rennen mehr gewonnen hat – noch weit von der Spitze entfernt ist . Aber die Ziele des Champions von 2021 sind dieses Jahr realistischer , da er weiß , dass er auf einer soliden Basis früher Top-6-Ergebnisse aufbauen kann . Er war dieses Jahr ein ruhigerer Typ und ist immer noch in der Lage , mit den Besten seiner Klasse zu kämpfen , wenn das Motorrad es ihm erlaubt - auch wenn Yamaha derzeit noch etwas davon entfernt ist .
