ROAD TO MotoGP # BritishGP
In 2024 , the R & G British Talent Cup enters its seventh year of competition and its fourth season as the sole British Moto3™ class in partnership with MSVR . This Cup , designed for riders and teams , features competitors aged from 14 who race around the UK , alongside the British Superbike Championship , with a highlight alongside MotoGP™ at the British GP . Each BTC round comprises two races , using a points system identical to MotoGP™ .
Each season offers the opportunity for promotion on the Road to MotoGP™ . The championship into which the selected rider is promoted is decided by Dorna and MSVR after evaluating the field throughout the year , to provide the best fit for the chosen rider . Options include the European Talent Cup , Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup , or FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship . Former BTC riders have already joined the Junior Talent Team and graduated to other teams in the FIM JuniorGP™ paddock . 2019 BTC Champion Scott Ogden progressed to the Moto3™ World Championship alongside
Josh Whatley . 2021 BTC Champion Casey O ’ Gorman was selected for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup , and the favourite for 2022 . Rhys Stephenson joined the Rookies for 2023 . Reigning champion Evan Belford secured his place in the Rookies for the 2024 season and Junior GP where Eddie O ’ shea is also present . Favourite Sullivan Mounsey also moved up , chosen by Red Bull after participating in the Selection Event . For more than two decades , Dorna Sports has invested in creating the Road to MotoGP™ , providing millions of young riders worldwide with the opportunity to excel . The R & G British Talent Cup , conceived by Dorna in 2018 , began as a competition for riders on identical Honda NSF250Rs . From 2020 , an agreement with MSVR expanded the Cup to become the sole British Moto3™ class . The BTC provides an opportunity for riders in the British Isles to learn on the Road to MotoGP™ . Riders and teams can enter the BTC in a traditional manner , following regulations based on the Dorna-promoted European Talent Cup . Dorna remains hands-on at all events , providing rider coaching to assess the stars of tomorrow .
