Alex Marquez progressed through JuniorGP before claiming the title in 2012, earning a full time move to Moto3™ the following season. Race wins soon followed and a consistent 2014 campaign delivered the Moto3™ World Championship. A step up to Moto2™ with Marc VDS proved more demanding, but steady development paid off. Multiple victories in 2016 and 2017 set the stage for a breakthrough year in 2019, where five wins and regular podiums secured his second World Championship. Promotion to MotoGP™ followed in 2020, where Marquez impressed with back to back second place finishes. Challenging seasons with Honda followed, before a career turning point arrived with a switch to Ducati machinery in 2023. Podiums and Sprint success confirmed renewed form, which accelerated in 2025. Three Grand Prix victories marked a landmark season and placed Marquez firmly among the elite. Entering 2026 on equal machinery to the title favourites, Marquez targets his first MotoGP™ crown.
Alex Márquez heeft gedurende zijn carrière bewezen dat hij veel meer is dan alleen de broer van Marc Márquez. De Spanjaard werd wereldkampioen in de Moto3 in 2014 en voegde daar in 2019 ook de Moto2-titel aan toe. Een jaar later behaalde hij al podiumplaatsen in zijn debuutseizoen in de MotoGP. Inmiddels rijdt hij voor BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP op Ducati-machines en behoort hij tot de vaste uitdagers voor de voorste posities. Hoewel 2024 niet altijd eenvoudig verliep voor de rijders op GP23-materiaal, kende Márquez ook hoogtepunten, waaronder een historisch dubbel podium samen met zijn broer tijdens de Duitse Grand Prix. In 2025 volgde de definitieve doorbraak met zijn eerste MotoGPoverwinning in Jerez, gevolgd door zeges in Barcelona en Maleisië. Daarmee eindigde hij als tweede in het wereldkampioenschap. Ook in 2026 liet hij direct zijn snelheid zien met opnieuw winst in Jerez. Na een crash in Barcelona richt hij zich nu op een sterk vervolg van het seizoen en een nog constantere reeks resultaten.
