It could be argued that Moto2™ not only has the most absorbing title fight in any Grand Prix category in 2025, but that it has also produced the best racing. Could that continue in Malaysia?
Spanish challenger Manuel Gonzalez( Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) is currently the rider to beat, after he scored brilliant wins in Thailand, Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello. But his title challenge took a dent when he was disqualified from the Indonesian Grand Prix.
That brought Diogo Moreira( Italtrans Racing Team) right back into the title fight. The Brazilian, who took last year’ s Rookie of the Year prize, also proved he is a leading name thanks to wins at Assen, the Red Bull Ring and Mandalika.
Preseason favourite Aron Canet( Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO) was off form
for a number of weekends in August and September, but was back to his best in Indonesia, where he rose from 21st to third. He’ ll need to get back to winning ways here if he wants to take the title to the final two races.
Barry Baltus( Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO) has been the revelation of the year, scoring six podiums in the first 16 races of the year. Jake Dixon( ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) took commanding wins in Argentina and Austin aboard his new Boscoscuro chassis, but has struggled for consistency.
Also watch out for the CFMoto Aspar Team’ s talented rookie duo of Dani Holgado and David Alonso. Holgado has been the stand out rookie so far, while Alonso’ s win in Hungary showed he’ s found his feet.
