Mugello International Circuit
The Italian Grand Prix is at home at Mugello . Just think the first event took place on the Tuscan track in 1976 . The winners of the very first edition were the legendary Angel Nieto on a Bultaco ( in the 80cc class ), Pierpaolo Bianchi ( 125cc class ) for Morbidelli , in the 250cc class it was Walter Villa with Harley-Davidson who got on the top step of the podium , Johnny Ceccotto ( Yamaha ) in the 350cc class and 15 times World Champion Giacomo Agostini ( Yamaha ) in the 500cc category .
A fixed location since 1994 , we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Italian GP at Mugello last year . MotoGP ’ s visit to Mugello is known all over the world for the show on and off the track .
Four or two wheels , Mugello makes everyone agree . But what makes the Tuscan circuit unique ? For Charles Leclerc it is “ a very beautiful and super technical track , with height variations and very demanding curves ”. Lewis Hamilton defined it “ a serious track , to be treated with gloves like a beautiful woman ”. For Valentino Rossi Mugello has always been “ one of the most beautiful tracks in the world capable of giving endless emotions , like the legendary right at Arrabbiata 2 ”. For Marc Marquez , the most beautiful corner is San Donato , “ a very challenging braking considering that it ’ s approached at 350 kph and is a bit uphill ”. Mugello is also one of the circuits most dear to Ducatista Pecco Bagnaia : “ The Italian Grand Prix is our home race , one of my favorites and the track lends itself very well to the technical characteristics of our bike . I can ’ t wait to come back .”
An “ old school ” circuit , designed in pencil following the morphology of the valley in 1974 , the track extends for 5,245 metres within the Tuscan hills , characterised by frequent changes of direction and elevation . The track , never modified frpm the original layout , but constantly improved in terms of safety , is technical , safe , fast and demanding like those of the past , but equipped with all the requirements dictated by the highest international homologations , the Grade 1 FIA ( Formula 1 ) and Grade A FIM ( MotoGP ).
Safety is in fact the business card of the Ferrari-owned plant , starting with the wide escape routes , the safety devices , a fully equipped Medical Center and the Race Control , and the control room where all track activities are observed , thanks to 30 fixed cameras and 10 domes .
In addition to the very high safety standards , the Mugello International Circuit stands out for being the greenest circuit in the world , as shown by the recent analysis conducted by Enovation Consulting and Right Hub on 96 circuits worldwide . The Mugello Circuit was also the first in the world to obtain the prestigious recognition of “ Achievement of Excellence ”, the highest level of environmental sustainability certification issued by the FIA ( International Automobile Federation ) in 2015 , still renewed today , together with the renewal of the Grade 1 FIA license . It is also the first circuit to be ISO20121 certified .
It is therefore with great pleasure that we welcome all the riders , teams , Dorna and IRTA . The show is guaranteed with five races : the three grand prix classes of Moto3 , Moto2 , MotoGP , the young talents of the Red Bull Rookies Cup and for the first time MotoE .
The party will also be going in the stands and the hills thanks to the return of the public after two particularly difficult years .
With the hope that the best will win , we invite all fans to participate in this colorful and exciting celebration of sport .
