Principale rivale di Marc Marquez nell ’ era del dominio dello spagnolo , nel 2019 Andrea Dovizioso è stato per il terzo anno consecutivo vicecampione iridato in MotoGP™ . Non sorprende perciò sapere che ha vinto il campionato del mondo 125 nel 2004 e lottato in 250 con Jorge Lorenzo contendendo il titolo allo spagnolo nel 2006 e 2007 . Il suo salto in avanti , da buon pilota a stabile contendente per il titolo , è stato poi notevole . Un 2020 travagliato lo ha portato a lasciare la Ducati e prendersi una pausa . Ha corso le ultime cinque gare del 2021 ed è tornato per un ’ intera stagione con RNF Yamaha su moto full factory nell ’ anno in corso .

In the recent era of Marc Marquez dominance , it was Andrea Dovizioso that pushed the serial champion hardest . 2019 marked the third consecutive year in which the Italian veteran finished runner-up in the MotoGP™ standings . This should come as no surprise to anyone watching Dovizioso win the 2004 125cc World Championship or push Jorge Lorenzo in the 2006 and 2007 250cc title fights . But his turnaround from MotoGP™ ‘ nearly man ’ to regular challenger was remarkable . A troubled 2020 led to him quitting Ducati and taking time out from racing . Yet he still raced the final five races of 2021 for Yamaha after Maverick Viñales ’ surprise departure and is ready for a full campaign with RNF Yamaha on full factory bikes for the year ahead . Can ‘ Dovi ’ produce the old magic for one last campaign ?
