Nemmeno una spalla sinistra gravemente infortunata , alla fine del 2018 , ha fermato Marquez : nel 2019 ha ottenuto dodici vittorie e sei secondi posti in 19 gare . Per lui , visti i cinque precedenti titoli ottenuti in MotoGP™ , insieme a uno in Moto2™ e un altro in 125™ , sembrava che superare i record di Valentino Rossi fosse solo una questione di tempo . Ma un incidente nella prima gara del 2020 , con la parte superiore del braccio destro strapazzata , lo ha messo KO per tutto l ’ anno . Eroicamente rientrato alla terza gara del 2021 , l ’ anno scorso è stato capace di tre vittorie . Mentre era in lotta per il quarto posto in classifica , nonostante la sua forma fisica fosse tutt ’ altro che recuperata , è incappato in un innocuo incidente in allenamento dal quale è uscito con dei problemi all ’ occhio destro . Di qui un altro ansioso inverno di recupero . Ma Marquez nel 2022 è tornato con una nuovissima Honda e inizia l ’ anno fra i favoriti .

Not even a seriously damaged left shoulder at the end of 2018 could hold Marquez back in 2019 he amassed twelve wins and six second places from 19 races . That , added to his five previous MotoGP™ crowns and one in Moto2™ and 125cc™ , made it seem only a matter of time until he caught and surpassed great rival Valentino Rossi ’ s records . But a crash in 2020 ’ s first race broke his upper right arm . That put him out of all that year , and he made a heroic comeback at the third race of 2021 . Despite being far from peak fitness , he scored three race wins and was contesting fourth in the championship when an innocuous training crash damaged his right eye and led to another anxious winter of recovery . But Marquez was back testing for 2022 on an all-new Honda and must start this year as a favourite .
