The only manufacturer to prevent a Ducati clean sweep in 2024, Aprilia claimed Grand Prix victory through Maverick Viñales in the USA and also took seven Sprint podiums. With Viñales moving to KTM and Aleix Espargaro retiring, the new line-up is a heavyweight one: reigning World Champion Jorge Martin brings the # 1 plate to the Noale factory, while Marco Bezzecchi has the honour of putting the Italian flag on the Italian machine, becoming the first full-time factory Aprilia rider from Italy since 2021.
Despite the highlights of the COTA win and Sprint success, it was a challenging season overall for Aprilia, who finished third in the manufacturers’ standings. Already, the 2025 RS-GP looks a step forward, with Martin adapting quickly and praising the front-end feel, aided by new downwash ducts. It is still early days, but with the arrival of technical guru Fabiano Sterlacchini from KTM, Aprilia are pushing for further improvement and aiming to lead the charge against Ducati’ s dominance.
Martin’ s move also brings new expertise to the technical side: long-time Ducati crew chief Daniele Romagnoli follows‘ The Martinator’ to Aprilia, adding a wealth of knowledge. Combined with the experience of Bezzecchi’ s crew chief Francesco Venturato, ex-KTM and Ducati engineer Sterlacchini, and the established leadership of Paolo Bonora, the ingredients are in place for a strong 2025. Bezzecchi’ s recent performances have already shown that Aprilia are very close to matching Ducati’ s level.
