SUSTAINABILITY

AT SILVERSTONE

WHAT WE’ RE DOING

At the Home of British Motorsport, the race to a more sustainable future is one we’ re determined to win, and 2025 saw us pick up real pace.
Our Shift to Zero strategy steers everything we do. It’ s built on three pillars: Innovation, adopting and accelerating the technologies behind our decarbonisation; Community, caring for our people, supporting our neighbours and inspiring the next generation; and Experience, growing into a premier destination for sustainable events and showcasing climate action globally. Together they map our route to two ambitious goals. By 2030 we aim to cut carbon emissions by 50 %, and by 2040 we’ ll reach Net Zero.
2025: Hitting our stride Last year brought real momentum. We moved 125,000 people on shuttle services during the British Grand Prix, achieved ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management, and added 20 electric vehicles to our on-site fleet. We ran seven community education programmes, introduced dedicated sustainability Race Makers, and our solar panels generated enough power to supply 340 UK homes for a whole year.
We also completed an Economic and Social Impact Study, a way of measuring the value Silverstone creates beyond the track. It found £ 167 million in economic activity, the jobs, tourism and spending we generate across the region, and £ 194 million in social value, the wellbeing, community and educational benefits that follow. And 20,000 of you got hands-on with our Impact Lap.
