The first Grand Prix winner from Thailand becomes the first MotoGP rider from Thailand in 2025. From the Asia Talent Cup up the Road to MotoGP – via a top ten at his home GP in a single Moto3 wildcard – Somkiat Chantra then made some sizeable impressions in Moto2, winning two races and taking a slew of podiums. Now, he’ s making more history as he joins the premier class. But he’ s not just here for that, he’ s also here to go fast. Alongside former teammate Ai Ogura and Fermin Aldeguer, there’ s Rookie of the Year up for grabs and a whole lot more in MotoGP this year. And to top it all off, he’ ll make his debut on home turf at Buriram. We can already see the now customary Chantra grin.
Der erste Grand-Prix-Sieger aus Thailand wird 2025 auch der erste MotoGP-Fahrer aus Thailand sein. Vom Asia Talent Cup über einen Top-Ten-Platz bei seinem Heim-GP in einer einzigen Moto3-Wildcard bis hin zur MotoGP hinterließ Somikat Chantra anschließend in der Moto2 einen bleibenden Eindruck, gewann zwei Rennen und holte zahlreiche Podestplätze. Jetzt schreibt er Geschichte und steigt in die Königsklasse ein. Aber er ist nicht nur dafür hier, sondern auch, um schnell zu sein. Neben seinem ehemaligen Teamkollegen Ai Ogura und Fermin Aldeguer geht es in diesem Jahr in der MotoGP um den Titel des Rookies des Jahres und vieles mehr. Und als Krönung gibt er sein Heimdebüt in Buriram. Chantras mittlerweile typisches Grinsen ist schon zu sehen.
