A soli 19 anni , Quartararo rischia di diventare un talento non realizzato ma la sua prima - e unica - vittoria di un Gran Premio in Moto2™ , a Barcellona nel 2018 , è quanto basta per ottenere un posto nel neonato Petronas , team che sostituisce il Sepang Racing Team , approdando così alla MotoGP™ già l ’ anno successivo . Da quel momento , il campione del mondo Junior FIM Moto3™ del 2013 e 2014 ha ottenuto sette podi , sei pole position , sfidando Marc Marquez già nel suo anno da rookie in MotoGP™ . I problemi col motore della M1 hanno fatto crollare la sua sfida nell ’ autunno del 2020 . La promozione al Team Factory Yamaha dal 2021 , ha solo reso Fabio più forte e le cinque vittorie finora significano che è sulla buona strada per conquistare il primo titolo mondiale . Quando mancano tre gare alla fine della stagione ha un bel margine di vantaggio in classifica : 52 punti . In questo weekend dunque potrebbe già chiudere i giochi .
At just 19 years of age , Quartararo was in danger of becoming another case of massive talent unfulfilled . But his first – and only – grand prix win in the Moto2™ class in Barcelona midway through 2018 was enough to convince the new Petronas-backed Sepang Racing Team to place him in MotoGP™ . From there the 2013 and 2014 FIM Moto3™ Junior World Champion never looked back , scoring seven podiums , six pole positions and pushing Marc Marquez hardest in his rookie MotoGP™ year in 2019 . Yamaha ’ s engine woes saw his 2020 challenge crumble in the autumn . A promotion to Yamaha ’ s Factory team for 2021 has only made Fabio stronger and five wins so far mean he is well on course for a first world title .
