With Ai Ogura and Fermin Aldeguer, first and second in last year’ s Dutch TT, now racing in MotoGP™, this weekend promises to be an open affair in the intermediate class.
Spanish challenger Manuel Gonzalez( Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) is currently the rider to beat, after he scored brilliant wins in Thailand, Jerez and Le Mans. Likewise, preseason favourite Aron Canet( Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO) has already shown a maturity this term, and won the Qatar race in epic fashion.
Jake Dixon( ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) took commanding wins in Argentina and Austin aboard his new Boscoscuro chassis, which put him in the thick of title contention.
Senna Agius( Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) and Brazilian Diogo Moreira( Italtrans Racing Team), two riders who fought for last year’ s Rookie of the Year prize, have also proved they can now be regular podium contenders in 2025. Agius’ first win in the UK was a season highlight.
If those at the front of last year’ s Moto2 race are present once again, expect to see Tony Arbolino( BluCru Pramac Yamaha Racing) up there, even if both have been far from the best this term.
Also watch out for the CFMoto Aspar Team’ s talented rookie duo of Dani Holgado and David Alonso. Holgado has been the revelation of the season so far, while Alonso’ s podium in the UK showed he’ s gradually getting up to speed.

Spaanse uitdager Manuel Gonzalez( Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) is de te kloppen rijder, nadat hij fantastische overwinningen scoorde in Thailand, Jerez, en Le Mans. Ook Aron Canet( Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO), favoriet tijdens het voorseizoen, heeft een volwassen aanpak laten zien dit jaar, met een overtuigende zege in Qatar.

De winst van Agius in Engeland was een hoogtepunt van het seizoen tot nu toe.
Als we vooraan weer dezelfde coureurs zien rijden als vorig jaar, dan kun je en Tony Arbolino( BluCru Pramac Yamaha Racing) in de strijd aan kop verwachten, ook als hij tot dusver toe niet de vorm van vorig jaar heeft laten zien.
Let ook op Dani Holgado en David Alonso, de twee zeer getalenteerde rookies van het CFMoto Aspar Team. Holgado is vooralsnog de verrassing van dit seizoen, en het podium van Alonso in Engeland laat ook zien dat hij op snelheid begint te komen. De Nederlander Collin Veijer( Red Bull KTM Ajo), die vorig jaar nog om de titel streed in de Moto3, wordt in zijn eerste jaar in de Moto2 geplaagd door blessures. Hierdoor gaat zijn aanpassing aan de Moto2 langzamer dan gepland.
