If taking pressure and looking calm doing it were a person, it would probably be Francesco Bagnaia. But that’ s not to say the two-time MotoGP champion hasn’ t shown plenty of fire on his way to becoming one of the benchmarks in the sport. Just like his well-controlled, lights-to-flag wins aren’ t the only way he’ s arrived with two top class crowns, Bagnaia gets his elbows out like the best of them, and in doing so has played a memorable part in some of the best recent races – and best races ever. In 2025, it will be interesting to watch his approach. He’ s not defending the # 1, that’ s gone to Aprilia with Jorge Martin. Will that see him go on the attack more? Or will the opposite be true? Marc Marquez arrives in the box 2025, and only one of the two will come out on top at Ducati. Whatever happens, if it’ s a close rivalry it will prove only one thing: the quality of each.

Als er iemand is die er onder druk kalm uit kan zien, is het wel Francesco Bagnaia. Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat de tweevoudige MotoGP-kampioen geen pit in zijn donder heeft getoond tijdens zijn carrière die hem tot een icoon in de sport heeft gemaakt. Zo zijn ook zijn uiterst gecontroleerde overwinningen vanaf kop niet de enige manier waarop hij twee keer de kroon in de koningsklasse bemachtigde. Bagnaia gaat het gevecht aan als de beste coureurs, en speelt daarmee een gedenkwaardige rol in een paar van de beste races uit de recente geschiedenis, en de beste races ooit. Wat zijn benadering zal zijn in 2025 wordt interessant. Hij verdedigt niet de # 1, die is met Jorge Martin meegegaan naar Aprilia. Zal hij daardoor vaker gaan aanvallen? Of zal het tegendeel het geval zijn? Marc Marquez arriveert in de box in 2025, en slechts één van de twee kan bij Ducati de beste worden. Wat er ook gaat gebeuren, een intense rivaliteit bewijst slechts dat beide rijders kwaliteit hebben.
