When Marc Marquez left Honda at the end of 2023, the future looked uncertain for HRC. Two seasons later, though, the Japanese manufacturer enters 2026 in its strongest position since 2019. Last year Honda surprised the MotoGP paddock by taking a race win with Johann Zarco, while Zarco and Joan Mir added three more podiums between them. Updates introduced after the summer break transformed the RC213V into a regular top six contender.
Despite ongoing issues with rear grip, Honda made clear gains in top speed, front end stability and braking performance. The season ended with Luca Marini finishing seventh in Valencia, helping Honda move from Category D to Category C concessions for 2026. That step forward reflected the impact of new test riders Aleix Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami, along with stronger collaboration between the factory, race and test teams.
The arrival of Romano Albesiano from Aprilia at the end of 2023 has also strengthened the project. Honda has continued pushing through the winter, keeping most team personnel unchanged while introducing revised aerodynamics and an updated engine. As a result, HRC riders head into the new season with realistic ambitions of fighting for race victories once again.
Po odchodu Marca Márqueze z Hondy na konci roku 2023 byla v Hondě HRC potřeba změna mentality. Rok 2025 byl pro tým těžký a výrobce se dívá do budoucnosti. Stejně jako jejich domácí japonský rival Yamaha byli v posledních letech odsunuti z popředí návratu evropských výrobců, ale to neznamená, že Honda HRC je úplně mimo hru. Mistr světa z roku 2020 Joan Mir, Luca Marini, Johann Zarco a rookie Diogo Moreira budou pracovat na dosažení výsledků. V zákulisí ale probíhají přípravy. Honda přivedla bývalého technického ředitele Aprilie Romana Albesiana, který tuto pozici zastával od roku 2013, aby nahradil Gigiho Dall ' Ignu, který přešel k Ducati. Tentokrát Albesiano nahrazuje Kena Kawauchiho, který přechází do testovacího týmu, jenž má také novou tvář. Takaaki Nakagami zůstává v ekosystému Hondy a připojí se k němu bývalý vítěz GP Aleix Espargaro. Dva bývalí zaměstnanci Aprilie, Espargaro a Albesiano, mohou být jen malou částí toho, co je potřeba k obratu Honda HRC.
