Now working with Andres Madrid, formerly crew chief to Brad Binder, Bastianini has shown a return to form after a shaky start to the 2026 season. He was back to his old self in the Grand Prix of the Americas, securing a MotoGP™ Sprint podium.
Qualifying remains an issue for the diminutive Italian. But there are signs that he is starting to feel consistently comfortable on KTM’ s challenger.
“( In Austin) from the start( the feeling) was a different world( to preseason). We also tried some different solutions on the bike … but it wasn’ t just this, it is also because our bike started working due to many things. It was very difficult for me to explain why. But there( I was riding like) Bastianini … not an anonymous rider!”
Bastianini made his KTM breakthrough in 2025 at this round. Had he qualified better, he could well have challenged for the podium. No question, his aims will be to replicate that form in Czechia in 2026.

Bastianini nyní spolupracuje s Andresem Madridem, bývalým šéfem týmu Brada Bindera, a ukázal návrat do formy po nejistém začátku sezóny 2026. V Grand Prix of the Americas se vrátil ke svému starému já a zajistil si pódium v MotoGP™ Sprint. Kvalifikace zůstává pro drobného Itala problémem. Existují však náznaky, že se na konkurenceschopném motocyklu KTM začíná cítit konzistentně pohodlně.
„( V Austinu) byl od začátku pocit úplně jiný, než v předsezóně.“ Také jsme na motorce vyzkoušeli několik různých řešení … ale nebylo to jen tím, bylo to také proto, že naše motorka začala fungovat kvůli mnoha věcem. Bylo pro mě velmi těžké vysvětlit proč. Ale jel jsem jako Bastianini … ne jako anonymní jezdec!“
Bastianini v tomto závodě v roce 2025 dosáhl svého průlomu v KTM. Kdyby se kvalifikoval lépe, mohl klidně bojovat o pódium. Jeho cílem bude bezpochyby zopakovat tuto formu v Česku v roce 2026.
