Second overall in the manufacturers’ standings in 2024 but still without a Grand Prix win since 2022, Austrian manufacturer KTM retain Brad Binder and his insight into the RC16 but promote Pedro Acosta into the factory squad.‘ El Tiburon’ hit headlines last year with his podiums and pole at Motegi as well as his off-track charisma and straightto-the-point attitude. A line-up that has all the prospects of success, it’ s been a long-time without a dry Grand Prix win for the Austrian brand. In the post-season test in Barcelona, KTM brought a new set of exhausts and have been trying to work on their throttle connection and make the power smoother and more usable to limit wheelspin. The exhausts featured an exhaust valve them for the first time, perhaps aiming to improve braking. Small steps are what it takes in the world’ s most exciting sport and that’ s what KTM have worked on in contrast to previous strategies of bringing an array of hard parts to tests. Continuity is also key though and Pedro Acosta has that on his side, with Paul Trevathan moving with him from the Tech3 outfit.
Rakouský výrobce KTM, který v roce 2024 obsadil druhé místo v hodnocení výrobců, ale od roku 2022 stále čeká na vítězství v Grand Prix, si ponechá Brada Bindera a jeho znalosti motocyklu RC16, přičemž do továrního týmu povýší Pedra Acostu. „ El Tiburon“ se loni dostal na titulní stránky novin díky svým pódiovým umístěním a pole position v Motegi, ale i díky svému charismatu mimo závodní dráhu a přímému přístupu. Sestava, která má všechny předpoklady k úspěchu, protože rakouská značka už dlouho neokusila vítězství v Grand Prix. V posezónních testech v Barceloně přivezla KTM novou sadu výfuků a snažila se vylepšit spojení s plynem a zajistit plynulejší a lépe využitelné výkony, aby omezila prokluz kol. Výfuky byly poprvé vybaveny výfukovým ventilem, pravděpodobně s cílem zlepšit brzdění. V nejzajímavějším sportu světa jsou důležité malé kroky, a právě na tom v KTM pracovali, na rozdíl od předchozích strategií, kdy se do testů přinášela řada nových dílů. Klíčová je však také kontinuita, a tu má Pedro Acosta na své straně, protože z týmu Tech3 s ním přechází i Paul Trevathan.
