It took a long run of podiums, poles and impressive performances from 2017 to late 2023 before Johann Zarco finally stood atop a MotoGP rostrum as a race winner – but not for lack of trying. Fresh from two Moto2™ titles, he made a splash on his debut with the independent Tech3 team, then with Yamaha in 2017, followed by an ill-fated stint at Red Bull KTM Factory Racing before they were competitive at the front. He then landed at the Ducati-fielding Pramac team, and the stars finally aligned. From there, Zarco made the move to Honda and the LCR team, making a second attempt at playing a bigger role in developing a bike. Since then, he’ s been a standout performer for the Japanese factory in both qualifying and race trim, taking their best finish of 2024. He was Honda’ s strongest contender in the first half of 2025. Can he continue that trend?
Es dauerte eine lange Serie von Podestplätzen, Pole-Positions und beeindruckenden Leistungen von 2017 bis Ende 2023, bis Johann Zarco endlich als Rennsieger auf dem MotoGP-Podium stand. Nach zwei Moto2™-Titeln begeisterte er bei seinem Debüt im Tech 3-Team, dann 2017 bei Yamaha und schließlich bei einem unglücklichen Einsatz bei Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, bevor sie sich in der Spitzengruppe platzieren konnten. Dann landete er bei Ducati-Team Pramac und die Sterne standen endlich günstig. Von dort wechselte Zarco zu Honda und ins LCR-Team, um einen zweiten Versuch zu starten, eine größere Rolle bei der Entwicklung eines Motorrads zu spielen. Seitdem ist er ein herausragender Leistungsträger für das japanische Werk in Qualifying und Renntrimm und erzielte 2024 deren bestes Ergebnis.
